Very last-minute Bristol show tonight
Bristol’s brilliant You And The Atom Bomb have had to cancel their show at the Cooler in Bristol tonight due to personal reasons. Last minute replacements are GRAVENHURST solo and BRONNT INDUSTRIES KAPITAL. Nick has not played solo in Bristol for a very long time, so along with the clockwork sabbath techno of BIK this will be a truly unique evening. Venue: The Cooler, 48 Park Street, Bristol, BS1 5JG.

***** NEW DOUBLE A-SIDE SINGLE OUT 19th MAY *****
* Double A-side single with 4 tracks, out 19th May 08 on 7” & download
* Limited edition double 7”
* Every fold-out poster sleeve is unique, hand-printed and hand-numbered
We are tremendously excited to announce the release of a very special new Gravenhurst single.
Monday 19th May sees the release of our new double A-side single, the completely new song Nightwatchman’s Blues, backed with our squealing feedback cover-version of Fairport Convention’s Farewell, Farewell. Released on double 7” vinyl and download, the vinyl also includes two exclusive tracks specially recorded in Belfast for a BBC radio session: Nicole (as featured in This Is England, 2008 BAFTA Best British film), and Hourglass.
The vinyl release is exceptionally special. Each double 7” pack contains a completely unique fold-out poster sleeve, individually hand-printed by the incredibly talented and long-standing Gravenhurst collaborator Thomas Hicks. This double 7” pack is hand-numbered and limited to just 1300 copies worldwide.
Artist Thomas Hicks tells us more about the remarkable artwork:
"The ambition was to create a unique image for each cover which depicted a different wartime scene, sometimes making sense and sometimes nonsensical. To do this a series of 62 handheld wooden blocks were cut with lino mounted on. Each block is carved to depict a character, scenic element or object.
On each of the frames the assembly of the images is different, with sometimes slight variations in the frame and other times really random combinations of elements. For example combinations could include a full frame of trees with a lone soldier standing in the middle or a line of men standing along a train track with a mountain scape in the background. I want each image to feel like part of a story with each new combination of printing blocks creating a different scenario.
The frames will be printed in order from 0001 to 1300, with every single one depicting a slightly different story or part of a story. It’s quite exciting that as somebody buys the record they do not know what part of the story they are getting."
If you want to get your hands on one of these limited edition double 7" packs, it's released by Warp Records and available at good record stores, online (selection of links below), and a limited number will be available before the official release date at our UK headline shows next week.
Nightwatchman’s Blues and Farewell, Farewell will also be available for download at iTunes and Bleep.
